Brunel University respects the legally constituted rights to privacy of anyone using its portal or application.

All data collected for the purposes of the operation of Connect services whether automatically or voluntarily entered, regarding your devices, worklogs, faults, messages and any other personal information will be held and used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. Such data will be used for Connect purposes only and will neither be shared with nor transferred to any third party for commercial gain. 

• your Brunel university student ID number and your username
• your given (personal) name in the form provided to student/staff records and/or UCAS
• your family name in the form provided to student/staff records and/or UCAS
• your Brunel University e-mail address (for example, me07ikb@brunel.ac.uk)
• your mobile or office telephone number, and any other relevant contact details
• your residence address in university accommodation (as provided by the accommodation office) where applicable
• your university office details where applicable
• the MAC (Media Access Control) and IP (Internet Protocol) address (network addresses) of each device via which you intend to enjoy Connect services

To enable the registration and security check processes to run offline (without network or internet connection), registration and security-check data may be stored in an encrypted form on your device before being sent to the Connect servers.

• Your Brunel username
• Your Connect device identifier (a unique number given to your device during registration)
• Your device's operating system and service pack details
• Your device's make, model and type
• Your device's network cards’ details, including associated MAC and IP addresses
• Your antivirus product details
• Your spyware protection product details
• Your firewall product details
• Your windows update status (or equivalent details)

The application is, to the best of our knowledge, free from malicious software such as viruses.
