Office 365 MFA

If you do not already have multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your Office 365 email account then we are changing how you login to emails on Thursday 17th October (Students) and Friday 18th October (Staff).

Due to unforseen issues we have had to postpone the staff rollout for Friday 18th of October.

What is changing?

We are introducing an additional security step after you have provided your password, which involves a security code being sent to your mobile phone – either via text message, or via a free app. This is called multi-factor authentication, or MFA.

What will I need to do on the day?

In order to continue receiving emails you will need to enable MFA. This process will take place as part of your normal login to Office 365 and will take the following form:
  1. Login to Brunel Email as you usually would (either by clicking Webmail on the IntraBrunel homepage or going via http://www.brunel.ac.uk/webmail)

  2. After logging in you will be asked to set up "additional security verification" (i.e. MFA), follow the on-screen instructions which will present you with a number of options (mobile app or text message)

What will I need to do once MFA is set up?

Kind Regards,
