Connecting to Brunel Shared (G) Drive (Mac OS X)
Note: by default, Macs don't remember previously used network shares when they are restarted. You can follow steps 1, 2 and 3 every time if you wish (the last used network share will be shown in step 2 so you don't have to type it in). Alternatively, by following step 4 you can get the network share to appear in Finder all the time.
Note - To map to your G drive from home or off campus you will first need to install and run the AnyConnect VPN service, found under "My Apps" - Open a Finder window (the icon with the face). On the Go menu, choose Connect to Server.
- For Server Address, type in the path smb:<<Login for this information>>. Click Connect.
If you have a J drive the path will be shown here: smb:<<Login for this information>>
- When asked for your login, ensure registered user is selected. Type in <<Login for this information>>\<<Login for this information>>.
- You can create a shortcut to this shared drive in Places within Finder. With the mapped drive displayed, choose Enclosing folder from the Go menu. Now click once on the folder that has your G drive files and then choose Add to Sidebar from the File menu.
