What is Cisco Secure (previously AnyConnect) VPN for?
AnyConnect VPN can only be accessed OFF campus.
A VPN or Virtual Private Network connects you to a network other than the one you're currently connected to.
AnyConnect VPN is used to access the Brunel network from off-campus for access to certain internal Brunel network resources such as network drives and internal Brunel webpages.
You may also need VPN to access certain software, but you'll also need to make sure you have the software fully setup on your PC. On the Connect Portal go to 'Connect To' and VPN for instructions on how to install AnyConnect VPN.
You do not need to use VPN to: - access email
- access CHIME
- access eVision
- print on a home printer
A nyConnect VPN does not work on campus and is not needed in halls of residence. If you do try to connect to AnyConnect VPN whilst you are connected to the Brunel Network or Wifi@Brunel you'll get an error message.
If you're connected to the VPN, and are experiencing call quality issues on Zoom or Microsoft Teams you could try disconnecting from the VPN to see if it improves.
